What I'm playing right now! (5/13/26)

Mouse: P.I. for Hire

We live in a post-Cuphead world. This game, entirely hand-drawn in rubberhose animation, captures a magic that only an interactive medium can do. Old-timey cartoons have a bouncy feel that makes you want to tap your foot and wiggle your finger. Seeing it in motion is one thing, but interacting with it makes you feel like Steamboat Willie himself.

When the battle music picks up, a piano falls on a gangster, or the silly animations make me laugh; I get anemoia (nostalgia for a time I never experienced). On top of the rubberhose animation, this game stands on its own in the noir detective genre. The game has a dark tone, with grim realities being reflected in the game world of Mouseberg.

I can't praise this game enough. If I say anymore it will take away from the surprises that await you.
